The Top 5 Golf Courses in Kerry Ireland

without comments

One of the big attractions in Ballybunion, County Kerry is its Golf Club. It has a large membership and applicants usually have to wait a long time. Specific days of the week are reserved for members only but there is ample time for the numerous visitors who are more than willing to pay the green fees for a round of golf. The club has two courses which are always busy especially during the summer months. The Old Course is the more famous of the two and is generally considered to be among the top ten links courses in the world. Many of the world’s leading golfers have played there as well as numerous celebrities including Bill Clinton.

Tralee: This golf Course is situated in Barrow which is about seven miles west of Tralee towards the village of Fenit. It was designed by one of golf’s greats, Arnold Palmer, who considers it one of his finest achievements. The sea is visible from every hole, making this a stunning location. The Washington post declared it “possibly the finest test of golf in all of Ireland.” The breathtaking scenery makes it difficult to concentrate on the golf and it is generally considered a difficult but exhilarating course. Some holes are played right along the edge of the cliffs, demanding cool nerves and pinpoint accuracy.

The Lakes of Killarney which are surrounded by Ireland’s highest mountains, The McGillycuddy Reeks, are world renowned for their scenery and they attract tens of thousands of visitors to the area every year. This is the setting for Killarney Golf and Fishing Club which has three Golf Courses. Killeen course has become well known for hosting The Irish Open on a number of occasions including 2010 and 2011 and this tournament is beamed all over the world by satellite TV. But the other two courses at the club, O’Mahony’s Point and Lackabane, are also great courses which are very well liked by the top golfers. A fourth course, outside the town, is at Beaufort Golf Club which is set at the base of the mountains in beautiful wooded parkland. There are also three excellent nine hole courses in the Killarney area.

Waterville is situated on the south west coast of Kerry in the path of the Gulf Stream which warms the area and encourages the growth of tropical plants not found elsewhere in Ireland. This is the setting for Waterville Golf Club which has been in existence for over 100 years but only came to prominence after 1973 when the club was redeveloped and the course redesigned. Since then many of the world’s great golfers have played there and now it is always listed in the top 20 links courses in the world. Waterville was a favourite destination of Charlie Chaplin and visitors can see a statue of him on the seafront in the town.

A few miles outside Killorglin as you drive southwards, if you turn off to the right before you come to the village of Glenbeigh you will arrive at Dooks Golf Club. Dooks was redesigned and developed in 2002 and has been growing in popularity ever since. As well as a challenging eighteen hole course there is an excellent clubhouse complete with Bar and restaurant and a well stocked pro shop. The sandy fairways, gorse rough and stiff sea breeze present a unique challenge to most golfers.

These five golf courses are all within about an hours drive from Kerry airport and any body staying in either Killarney or Tralee could easily play on one of the courses each day. There are numerous hotels and bed and breakfasts in the area or groups of golfers could take one of the many fine self catering units in either Tralee or Killarney.

Golfers can stay at Killarney Hotels or Killarney Bed and Breakfast while playing golf in Kerry

Benefits Of Taking A Golf Vacation Package

without comments

Taking a trip is a wonderful thing to do for a wide variety of reasons. However, some people can start to get stressed out when they are trying to decide where they want to take a trip to. One thing that can help a person out though in deciding where to go is to figure out what kind of activities are around for them to do. That is when they may want to consider the positives of using a golf vacation package. Once they consider those positives they will see that this can be a great way to have a vacation that they can enjoy and not have to stress about anymore.

A great reason to take these trips is they can allow a person to experience a high quality resort. Most of these packages are booked into some of the highest quality lodges that a person can ever want to stay in. However, a person may discover that they could get spoiled by the class of location they are staying on and never resort back to what they usually stay in.

Another reason to take these is that an individual can find the tee cost is typically lower. If they are not already included in the package an individual can see that the cost is normally lower than what they would be paying. That is because they are part of that group that is using the discount rates, but also because of where they are staying at.

Something else that a person can find is they may not have to wait in lines for the tees. When a person goes to the course nothing is worse than being told that you’re going to have to wait for an hour for the person in front of you to finish up. With these trips since they are pre-arranged in most cases a person does not have that issue come up.

The trips since everything is already arranged tend to be more enjoyable for people. The enjoyability is coming from doing a game that they love, and knowing they are staying in a world class resort at the same time.

If a person uses a package like this they can find one that has all the cost included. Having all the cost included into the trip will allow an individual to see some form of savings, but also to see what all features are present. Some of these packages may also have a comparison chart for a person to view so they can see just how much of a savings they are getting.

At times a person may notice that these trips are geared towards people that travel in groups. This is always a nice feature because then a person can take friends with them and know they will have someone to play with. However, they can also find that friends will be more willing to go with them if the trip is a little more structured.

Going on a trip to relax is a wonderful thing to do, but for some people they will experience a tremendous amount of stress before deciding on the trip to take. That is when they need to consider one of the best ways to relax and enjoy themselves would be to take advantage of the reasons to utilize a golf vacation package. Then when they take advantage of those reasons they can experience a very relaxing vacation without the stress of figuring out where to go to.

The real estate market in British Columbia is hotter than ever. People from all over the world are flocking to BC to own a piece of the beautiful scenery and luxurious golf vacation packages . See what Kimberley real estate has in store for you today.

Dubai Is No Stranger To World-class Sporting Events

without comments

Horse racing, golf, motor racing, tennis, rugby, sailing – Dubai hosts some of the most prestigious events in the world and the sport-loving emirate has developed into an all-round venue, attracting international stars and events that place the city way ahead of the regional game as one of the world’s up-and-coming sporting destinations. From traditional pastimes such as camel racing and endurance riding, to international calendar events in the arena of golf, motor racing and even polo, Dubai has developed into a sporting venue capable of competing on a global level, and offers some of the finest facilities to be found anywhere in the world. Pick up any Dubai newspaper or magazine and you’ll soon discover that sport is an integral part of the city’s fabric.

From football to falconry, motorsport to marathon running, the Dubai sporting calendar offers something for everyone. Naturally, most outdoor sporting activities take place in the cooler autumn and winter months stretching from October through to late March with sporting superstars keen to flock to the Gulf’s most cosmopolitan city to take part in some of the richest events on their respective calendars. But it’s not only the events and tournaments that are of the highest standard; Dubai has also created a number of bespoke sporting venues and facilities that are on par with top venues around the world – and when that gold medal infrastructure is combined with traditional Arabian hospitality, the sporting world is given a winning combination that is hard to beat.

Since opening its first all-grass championship course at the Emirates Golf Club in 1988, Dubai has grown to become one of the most exciting golfing destinations in the world. Today, the Dhs8.8 million (US$2.4 million) Dubai Desert Classic – part of the PGA European Tour – attracts the world’s greatest stars including Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Lee Westwood and Colin Montgomerie. Each year, approximately 40,000 spectators take advantage of the smaller galleries to get up close to the great and the good of the game and enjoy one of the most popular dates on the Tour’s overseas calendar. The event, which was held from January 26th to February 1st this year and won by Rory McIlroy, is one of the social occasions of the year. But perhaps the biggest golfing highlight of 2009 is the inaugural Dubai World Championship, which is to be held in November. The tournament is the final competition in the Race to Dubai, which has replaced the European Tour Order of Merit. With a prize fund of more than Dhs36 million, it’s the world’s richest golf tournament. And who can forget the dramatic pictures of world number one Tiger Woods hitting golf balls into the Arabian Gulf from his ‘elevated tee’ on the Burj Al Arab helipad?

It’s not just Woods who enjoyed his photo shoot 200 metres above the shimmering Gulf, however. Roger Federer and Andre Agassi took their racquets to the top of the opulent seven-star hotel in 2005 during a break in the action at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Open. And like the Desert Classic, this is another event that attracts the sport’s big guns. In addition to the Swiss ace and the Vegas showman, the purposebuilt Dubai Tennis Stadium has also seen serves, slices and smashes from Tim Henman, Rafael Nadal, Stefan Edberg and Marat Safin. On the women’s front, Anna Kournikova, Williams sisters Venus and Serena, Justine Henin-Hardenne and Amelie Mauresmo have all grunted and groaned across the blue courts as the two events – both men’s and women’s opens – continue to go from strength to strength. The annual Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships signed a new three-year, Dhs33 million (US$9 million) sponsorship deal at the beginning of 2008 with Barclays, which resulted in a name change to the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championship.

Held every February, the tournament sees the ladies battling it out before the men take to the courts to round off the two-week tournament. This year, the top 10 women and seven of the top 10 men fought from February 15th to 28th. With so many household names, the tournament can rightly claim its place among the big four on the UAE sporting scene.

A Slice Of Heaven In Central Florida

without comments

Florida and golf are a natural combination. Despite the summer rains, Florida is known as the Sunshine State for a reason. Many towns experience more than 300 days of sunshine a year. For golfing enthusiasts, Florida is a veritable paradise.

The central Florida communities of Kissimmee, Davenport, Clermont, and Orlando boast a huge number of excellent golf courses. Many of the finest golfers in the world reside in this part of the country. Tiger Woods? main residence is just southwest of Orlando. In fact, Orlando itself is home to nearly 90 public golf courses and a host of private courses. Beyond the famed theme parks, family attractions and plentiful beach rentals, golf is a major part of the central Florida experience.

Eagle Creek is a Scottish style course situated just southeast of the Orlando International Airport. It has revetted bunkers and other features of golf that can usually only be experienced in Scotland. The Grande Pines Golf Club is located close to Sea World in central Orlando, just off International Drive. Newly renovated, the course was considered to be one of the finest before the redesign, and is now habitually showered with praise from experts and amateur golfers alike.

Of course, Orlando is just one town in central Florida where golfing is essential to the tourist industry. Davenport, a small community located on US Highway 17/92 in Polk County, southwest of Orlando, maintains unexpectedly excellent courses. The Ridgewood Golf Club at Davenport was voted one of Florida?s top 30 courses. The course was established by Ted McAnlis and has an extraordinary reputation. The club offers Champions Turf greens, new bunkers, leveled tee boxes and the kind of green landscaping that golfers in Florida have come to demand.

Another Scottish style course in the area is the Highlands Reserve Golf Resort north of Davenport. This course boasts exceptional surroundings and is located on one of the highest locales in Florida. Old Florida citrus trees embellish the edges of the course and scattered pines are reminiscent of courses in the Carolinas.

Kissimmee, Florida is almost adjacent to Orlando and is frequently used by guests as a center of operations when visiting the attractions in Orlando. But Kissimmee has lots to offer in its own right, including the Kissimmee Bay Country Club which was voted as one of America?s Best New Courses by Golf Digest in the 1990s. The course is 11 miles from the Orlando Airport and contains the natural splendor of a lakeside atmosphere shaded by rambling oak trees and abundant wildlife. Kissimme provides the kind of romantic travel you may be searching for while also including family fun.

The neighboring city of Clermont has nine public courses, which is a spectacular number for a town of only 13,000 people. The more well-known of these courses include The Legends Golf and Country Club, Kings Ridge Golf Club, Swiss Fairways, Green Valley Country Club, and Sanctuary Ridge Golf.

Lamar High School alumnus Jeremy Wariner won two gold medals in the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the 2005 world championship in the 400 meters in Rome. UTA also produced Doug Russell, who won two gold medals in swimming at the Mexico City Olympics in’68 and for whom a park on campus is named.

Champion bodybuilder (Mr. Olympia’98-2005) and former Arlington police officer, Ronnie Coleman resides in Arlington. Houston Comets Guard Erin Grant grew up in Arlington and attended Mansfield high school where she became the first high school basketball player to win four state championships. She currently holds the Big 12 assist record. Groundbreaking Planning Ruling Launches Joao Pessoa, Brazil onto World Stage

without comments

After many years of negotiation the Federal Government, Ministrio Pblico Federal (MPF) has granted the state of Paraba permission for the construction of a conference centre in the state capital of Joao Pessoa. The centre will be constructed in Cabo Branco, a tranquil area with a splendid beach and great restaurants and bars. It is Joo Pessoa’s number one residential district and an ideal investment location.

The development will cost in excess of $50 million, with works due to commence at the end of September. The Infrastructure Secretary, Francisco Sarmento, has stated that the State of Paraba has agreed all of the terms required by the MPF and the Federal environmental agency.

The land at the centre of these negotiations has always been zoned for touristic and residential development, with proposals for at least six large resort hotel schemes including golf and Spa centres. The land has effectively been blocked from development for the last 20-years, but now with this agreement in place, land-owners are rushing for planning permissions.

The State and Federal authorities had, until now, been unable to reach agreement regarding the protection and replanting of native vegetation, safeguarding of the beaches and investment into regularizing the water supplies for the area. However, now agreement has been reached it is widely expected that planning permissions will be granted and development commenced rapidly.

This agreement will bring a boom to tourism in Joao Pessoa and will be a landmark development within the North East of Brazil, states Sarmento. The building will help to improve the touristic network we already have in place and will give us increased drawing power in our low-season months he goes on to say. Real estate prices are forecast to increase massively now that this legal impasse has been resolved. The new hotels and resorts will have a knock-on effect throughout the city, which is good news for the canny investors who already have Joao Pessoa on their radar.

Joo Pessoa is one of Brazils most exciting yet little-known cities. It is located on the Brazilian North East coast and is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the region. Known as the gateway to Europe due to its position as the most easterly point of the Americas, it is popular as a holiday destination amongst Brazilians from the South who choose it for its charm and absence of towering high rises that dominate some of the more heavily developed North Eastern cities.

Joo Pessoa is renowned as Brazils safest city with great restaurants, lively bars and extensive shopping areas. It is also officially the world’s second-greenest city, full of squares, gardens and areas of preserved natural forest.

8 The City is well run with a very rich and varied cultural programme and a wide range of events from and art exhibitions to large-scale classical and popular music festivals. A recently constructed Science and Cultural centre in Cabo Branco has formed a centre point to the cultural programme.

Paraba and Joo Pessoa in particular, is experiencing rapid growth within the domestic market due to its economic expansion and migration from the south, and international interest is growing apace. This area offers investors excellent year-round rental prospects due to its 12-month season, as well as a growing stream of international investors and domestic buyers should they wish to sell on their investments. The development of the Conference centre and the proposed hotels and resorts will only increase the investment potential of this great city.
